ancient arty-facts

This is a sculpture I made whilst still at school. It was a bit of a challenge cutting out all those plastic mirror rectangles by hand and sticking them on with a glue gun, but I think it was worth it in the end. It was inspired by deep sea life and the clear acrylic was softened in an oven so I could bend it round. I also felt that the juxtapositioning of the plastic set up against the... blaa bla blaa. You get the idea.

Upon my return from the shops, I discovered that the tenticle which I had so lovingly created was infact far more intellectual than I had first anticipated. Either that or he had eaten the receptionist.

Limericks: Round Two

There once was a man named Morris,
Who tried it on with his local flourist,
He handed her flowers,
But she said 'aren't those ours?!'
That cheeky young man named Morris.

I went in a spaceship to Mars,
Where I met lots of cats driving cars,
I said 'what's this about?'
In reply they did shout,
'There's no driving restrictions on Mars'

I wanted to write a good poem,
To my Granpy who lives in Dun-Boeing,
ahhh... writer's block...

It's a knockout.

Poetry gone wrong

I hereby challenge myself to a limerick writing contest. The more thoughtless the better.

ROUND ONE *ding ding*

There once was a young man named Dean,
Who planted himself a small bean,
But it grew really fierce,
Deano broke into tears,
His prize plant was the worst he had seen.

That was the warm up.

I once met a bloke with a croak,
Who walked like a frog with a stroke,
He would hippitty-hop,
Fall into cow plop.
It was obvious he just couldn't cope.

There was an young man named Willfred,
Who liked to be called 'Right Said Fred',
But his parents weren't glad,
Infact, they got mad,
Bopped poor Fred on the head, now he's dead.

So dismal.

There was a sweet wrapper named Heidi,
Who wrapped herself up in a cardi,
She was so nice and snug,
Secure like a bug,
That her foils looked sweet, soft, and shiny.

I once kept a pig named Carrot,
Who snorted somewhat like a parrot,
'Oink Oink' he would go,
Running round, never slow,
So I cooked him for lunch in the crock pot.

More Annecy Pics

Thanks to Nana, I now have even more Annecy pics...

Taking a breather by the big pond, before heading inside again for another viewing.

It was so beautiful by the lake. We challenged the Danish to a boat race of epic proportions, however in true British style, it rained. We would have won anyway... although, perhaps not knowing my driving... **CRASH!**

BA Animation

Hello Georgia. Hello Jo.
This was on our way to visit the 'Royal Acadamy of Music' in London. We had previously worked together in groups of 4 (3 animators, 1 musician) with the other students to create short films. We called it the RAM project. We watched a short performance from some of the more 'interesting' composers, and then watched the films. It was fun!

Here's me animating upside down - The secret's in the extra strong hold hair gel.
Hey - look!
If you play these images back and forth, one after the other, it is *REALLY FUNNY!!!!

*If you are Kathy. Or very bored.

Some how this UWE sweat top gave me a hard edge. Yeah bring it sister.

And that was our very last day at Uni. Congratulations everyone, it was worth it.

Here we all are waiting to be loaded into a giant horizontal hamster's wheel. Our tutor was making a commissioned film for Channel 4 and we were all extras for the day. It was great! We each stood around the inside of the ride holding up an image, and as we were filmed from above at a certain speed, the animation came into effect. Everytime he pressed a fog horn we had to swap over images to make the next sequence. I don't even know if I should be divulging this top secret information but I guess if you don't hear from me within 2 weeks you can assume I have been taken out by ninja assasins.

'Mad Hatter's' illustration fundraiser. I was quite pleased with my hash in a dash 10-second-attempt at a mask! Ripped into shape with my bare teeth.

Animating 'Paper Bag Lady'. It's a hard life.

Hello this is me.

New Year's Eve - Natz and I enjoying the night air on the Clifton suspension bridge. We were treated to an array of fireworks, views, and loud old men on bicyles.

And... this is Kathy off her medication...

Annecy

aah Annecy... the beautifully peaceful mountainous land of cheese, wine, and yes a huge whopping great big animation festival!

Nadine, can I please have my sunglasses back now?

Overall it was a great week - Nadine and I met many wonderful people. I saw many films (including a great one from these lovely Danes ABOVE at 'Ya Film') but best of all I enjoyed watching 'Charlie and Lola' and 'Shaun the Sheep' *baaa!* However,I keep kicking myself because YET AGAIN I missed 'Peter and the Wolf'. One day folks. One day.
